Si digital’s Summer Party

This day of fun was planned by Sally our studio administrator. She devised a number of activities for the team to choose from with a RIB ride around the solent coming out on top.
We started the day early at the Parade Team Rooms in Southsea, It’s a beautiful little place on the common serving a great full english amongst other breakfast delights. After getting several hits of caffeine, we were all ready for our RIB ride setting sail from Gunwharf Quays.
The weather had been fairly kind to us. The rain had held off but the winds were up. We got into our waterproofs as the captain warned us that we were likely to get wet due to high winds and choppy seas. We made our way down to the dock and jumped onboard a 10 man RIB, there were 8 jockey seats and then a single row of seating at the back.
As HMS Queen Elizabeth had docked just a couple of days before, we were able to get a glimpse of her from the harbour. After a relaxing ten minutes cruising around by the carrier, we were then making our way out to the channel. The captain accelerated and the RIB was suddenly at full speed. The ride was exhilarating, wet and bouncy! We didn’t quite get to tour around the forts as the winds were taking a turn for the worse but the ride had been a lot of fun. Poor Steve and Danny took the brunt of the water spraying over board as they were sat right at the back of the RIB!
After a swift drink at The Old Customs House, we headed to M&B for lunch where we found our table labeled 51 digital – whoops. Breakfast was still weighing a few of us down so we entertained ourselves with a few games and activities.
After we had been fed and watered for the second time, we all headed to a new Southsea venue called ‘The Southsea Village’. This place has a ping pong table which just so happens to be a favourite Si digital pastime. We setup a new tivit leaderboard and battled it out to see who would top ‘Si On Tour’. Danny took the crown after another consistent performance on an unfamiliar table. He’s really become the guy to beat around the studio.
The final leaderboard ‘Si On Tour’.
The rest of the evening saw more visits to some of Southsea’s finest pubs and finished with a few sore heads on Saturday morning. The summer party was an action packed, resounding success!
