We’ve been working with our client Boadicea for a number of years now. The company sells luxury, niche fragrances to customers all over the world, with flagship concessions in London, located in Harrods and Selfridges. As soon as the virus hit, they faced rapid change as their physical stores closed, resulting in no way of selling face to face.
The Boadicea brand has a strong online presence, however, it was important that during this time they were still able to replicate the personal service they provide in store, face to face. The current website helps customers shop specifically for a product, but Boadicea wanted to take this one step further.
During the Government lockdown and the requirement for non-essential work to be carried out at home, we’ve seen a monumental shift of face to face meetings moving to remote video products like Zoom. This inspired Boadicea and us to look at a way of incorporating this new way of communication to their customers. The solution needed to be something that could be launched in a matter of days.
Talking with the client (on Zoom), together we decided to ask Boadicea’s talented perfume consultants to record short, sub 3 minute videos of themselves talking about selected fragrances. It’s their passion and eloquence that help communicate the quality of the Boadicea fragrances, and this was the perfect way to capture this for customers to watch at their own convenience.
Creating dedicated pages
After having our Zoom call, the Si digital design and development team got straight to work to produce an initial landing page to set the scene for virtual consultancy. This page would be home to the first video and after receiving this, we added some branding edits and it was ready to go. We decided to host these on the video platform, Vimeo, and then embed this onto the page. A degree of personalisation was added with each perfume consultant being credited with the video. The objective was to inspire customers about each fragrance and for those who would like a more personal service, book a free one to one consultation with that consultant.
In a matter of days, the Si digital team turned this concept and idea into reality with the page launching in the same week, with videos continuing to go live thereafter. We’re currently creating an all-encompassing index page to provide the broader range of consultation videos giving Boadicea customers an array of choice to learn about new fragrances from the comfort of their home, anywhere in the world.
This is a perfect example of digital transformation, which involves using digital technology to solve problems and transform a manual process, to a seamless digital experience.
In these uncertain times, this has presented new challenges for us at Boadicea the Victorious. We’ve been delighted with the support and help the Si digital team have given us.
Together we’ve been able to innovate for the benefit of our customers so they can still receive a personal service from our experienced perfume consultants. In a matter of days, Si digital has built upon an idea and released it live onto the website and we’re already seeing encouraging engagement.
